Denso Fuel Pump Investigation

Denso supplies low-pressure fuel pumps to vehicle manufacturers like Toyota and Subaru, among others. A recent investigation identified a defect in Denso fuel pumps that may cause vehicles to stall while driving at low and high speeds, and to experience sudden jerking, acceleration lag, illumination of check engine and master warning indicators, rough engine running, and engine no start.

The low-pressure fuel pump is located in the fuel tank and supplies fuel pressure to the fuel injection system. A recent investigation by one vehicle manufacturer identified impeller deformation in Denso fuel pumps caused by excessive fuel absorption. Analysis confirmed that the failed impellers had a lower density.
